Frequently Asked Questions St Louis Permit Notary Services

Why do St Louis City and St Louis County building permits require a notary?

The city of St Louis and St Louis County building departments require various permit applications and property releases to be notarized to prevent fraud. A notary public's stamp and signature legally certify that the property owner, licensed contractor, or authorized agent is the exact person submitting the plans, accepting legal liability, and verifying the construction details.

What types of St Louis construction and building permits must be notarized?

A notary acknowledgment is required on numerous residential and commercial municipal forms. We frequently notarize paperwork for:

  • Structural Additions: Building permits, home additions, garages, and sheds.
  • Outdoor Improvements: Porches, decks, carports, fences, and swimming pools.
  • Property Boundary Forms: "Release from Neighbor" forms (required when constructing within 3 feet of a property line).
  • Contractor Declarations: Subcontractor sheets, mechanical/electrical/plumbing permits, and occupancy permit applications.

Can a mobile notary come directly to my construction site or office?

Yes! We understand that taking time out of your day to hunt down a notary bank lobby can delay your project submission. Mobile Notary St Louis travels directly to your active construction job site, corporate office, architecture firm, or private residence. We make it easy to get your municipal paperwork executed on the spot so you can submit your plans to the city or county building department without delay.

What identification do I need to bring to my permit notary appointment?

Every person signing the permit application must present a physical, valid, and unexpired government-issued photo ID card. Accepted forms of identification include a standard state driver's license, a state-issued ID card, or a passport from any country. Missouri law strictly prohibits us from accepting expired IDs, paper photocopies, or digital photos of an identification card on a mobile phone.

Can I get my St Louis building permit notarized online?

Yes! If you are a remote project manager, out-of-town contractor, or property owner who cannot meet in person, we offer state-approved Remote Online Notarization (RON). You can securely upload your digital PDF permit application, complete an electronic identity check, and connect with a licensed electronic notary via a live webcam call on your smartphone or computer. You can then immediately download your legally signed and e-notarized permit to upload straight to the municipal portal.

What are the fees for permit notarization services?

Our rates strictly align with the Missouri statutory limit of $5 per notarized signature. Because we offer the convenience of bringing the notary office directly to your home, office, or job site, a standard mobile travel and convenience fee is added based on your specific location within St Louis City, St Louis County, or St Charles County. We always provide a clear, exact quote upfront before confirming your booking.

How do I schedule a mobile notary for my St Louis building permits?

You can instantly book an appointment by using the schedule portal on our website or by reaching out to our team via email at info@MobileNotaryStLouis.com. To ensure a quick and smooth process, please provide us with your preferred location, the total number of permit documents requiring a stamp, and whether you prefer an in-person mobile visit or a virtual remote online notary session.
